Ideas On How To Protect Your Child Even When Far Away
Tuesday, March 13th, 2012In the summer just before she was to leave for college I made a decision to train my child how to make use of a self-defense keychain. Thinking of her being by herself and vulnerable got my wife and me overly worried about her safety while she was miles away.
The Heart Attack keychain which I got her is a lot more than just a keychain that is shaped into a heart. The cute-looking thing as fitting as it is for her age is truly a personal defense gadget which she could use when another person attacks her.
Her disguised weapon is made from tough plastic. All that she needs to do is hold it between her fingers and punch the living daylights out of her opponent.
The news that we learn about abduction and also harassment cases wherein girl students are usually the victims have been the main reasons for our worry. We are not there to safeguard our child or keep her out of harms way.
Her mom advised her to always be alert and never to talk to strangers. But at her age I do know that it is very impossible not to mingle and meet brand new people. I think she got the point though since she kept nodding her head.
That got me a bit worried also as she might be saying yes only to shut us up. Before she left however she told us with sincerity in her voice that she understood our fear and will constantly put our advices to her head and heart.
It pleases me to find out that my teenager is level headed. I will be pleased with the way we have raised her and prouder still that she knows how to care for herself. As we went her to the dormitory I reminded her regarding what a self-defense professional could do even with simple house keys when faced with a dangerous individual.
Of course rather than making use of only keys to defend herself she should take out her Heart Attack keychain instead and deal that powerful blow. Once her inconspicuous defense tool knocks her assailant down she should then run to safety and call 911.
