<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>There are many advantages of <a href="http://www.owndefense.com/homeprotection.html">home and travel security alarms</a>. In today’s world of economic turmoil, high unemployment rates, and limited incomes crime is at an all time high. No one individual is completely immune from becoming a victim of a crime such as burglary, or even a crime that is classified as “violent”. <a href="http://www.owndefense.com/homeprotection.html">Doors and window alarms</a> assist in the establishment of home protection, while small, portable alarms assist in the protection of your property and self-protection while traveling. In this guide, you will learn many of the advantages of home and travel security alarms, as well as some basic features that make these electronic devices effective.</p>
<p>Home Protection</p>
<p>The home is an area that we call our “own”. It is the one area that we frequent on a continual basis. When we are in our homes, it is important that we are comfortable and feel properly protected. While closed windows, locked doors, and proper lighting in and around the home can be extremely beneficial, additional means of security is necessary. <a href="http://www.owndefense.com/homeprotection.html">Doors and window alarms </a>are electronic devices that are either wired into the electricity or run off of batteries in order to detect motion and/or the opening and closing of the doors and/or windows. There are many types of home protection alarms that you can choose from that can be attached to all the doors and windows of your home. You can choose from systems that implement the use of lighting, sounds, and a combination to alert you of potential intruders. The advantages of home protection security systems include:<br />
<img src="http://www.owndefense.com/DSAL-2.jpg" alt="Door Stop Alarm" /><br />
• Identifying motion near doors and/or windows</p>
<p>• Alerting you to intruders</p>
<p>• Deterring potential home invasions due to light and sound or a combination alarm</p>
<p>Travel Safety</p>
<p>Many do not consider the fact that they could be a victim of a crime while traveling and staying at l<a href="http://www.owndefense.com/alarm.html">ocal hotels, motels, and/or cottages </a>that are offered in route to their destination. Now, more than ever, travel safety is a concern that should be taken seriously. Many security alarm manufacturers have created portable doors and window alarms that can be used while traveling. These devices can be placed on hotel, motel, and/or cottage doors, as well as the windows in the unit that one is traveling in. Many criminals actually zoom in their efforts to commit crimes in order to obtain cash and valuables, yet not too many expect to be caught with a portable travel security alarm system! The advantages of travel security alarms include:</p>
<p>• Protecting any and all valuables that you may have in a hotel room</p>
<p>• Protecting yourself and others that may be traveling with you from harm<br />
<img src="http://www.owndefense.com/2n1.jpg" alt="Personal alarm with flashlight" /><br />
• Deterring crime from occurring</p>
<p>There are many advantages associated with home and <a href="http://www.owndefense.com/alarm.html">travel security alarms</a>. It is important that you take appropriate measures to protect your property, yourself, as well as the individuals that live and/or will be traveling with you. Home protection and travel protection is possible when choosing among portable doors and window alarms. In addition to the benefits mentioned here, you can also experience lower rates on your homeowner insurance, as well as travel insurance!</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Unfortunately, self defense is something everyone should learn, especially women. Most women know who their attacker is. This makes it that much more difficult to trust your instincts when a potentially dangerous situation comes up. If they know and trust their attacker, women might not see the attack coming. For many of these women, self defense products can be a life saver. They just have to be prepared and have the right product with them.<span id="more-13"></span><br />
There are a variety of products out there made especially for self defense. There are many different types of <a href="http://www.owndefense.com">pepper spray</a> out in the market today. Pepper spray is a non lethal type of self defense product that can be hidden in a variety of different everyday looking objects. The beauty of having a pepper spray is that they come in small enough sizes that they can be placed in your pocket or on your key chain so that it is ready for you to use in a moments notice. Another self defense non lethal product is having a <a href="http://www.owndefense.com/alarm.html">personal alarm</a>. There are alarms for your home and car but you can also get an alarm that you can carry in your purse or pocket. The idea behind a personal alarm is the same as your car alarm. The loud noise will scare off the attack and bring attention to your situation. Personal alarms come in many different types and sizes. They can be combined with a defense spray or a flashlight to serve a dual purpose. There are also many different types of alarms available should you travel a lot. There are alarms that act as a <a href="http://www.owndefense.com/alarm.html">doorstop</a> to block a door from being opened and there are alarms that will hang on a doorknob that will sound should someone touch the door know trying to open it.<br />
Another self defense product that is very popular among women is the stun gun. There are a lot of different types of stun guns to choose from. A stun gun is best for close contact, say when an attack grabs you. You have to physically touch the gun to the person. They use a high voltage to temporarily disable the attacker giving you time to run away. Very similar to the stun gun is the taser. Unlike the stun gun, a victim doesn’t have to touch the attacker with it because the taser shoots small probes that attach to the attacker.<br />
While these are just a few examples of the different types of products available for self defense. The best self defense product for you will depend on your specific needs. For more information on the different products available, check out our website. </p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Many times when we think about self defense we don’t think about protecting ourselves at home. We always imagine images of attacks that happen out side of our own house. Many people might believe they are safe in their own house. While we would all like to believe that we can protect ourselves, the first place we need to consider protecting ourselves and our loved ones is at our own home. There are many ways to protect yourself at home so that you can feel safe and secure every time you go to bed at night.<span id="more-12"></span><br />
There are many different types of home alarms available for self defense at home. There is everything from a <a href="http://www.owndefense.com/voicealert.html">voice alert alarm</a>, which will inform you if someone is walking up your driveway to an auto dialer security alarm that will dial preset telephone numbers when they detect motion when it is armed. Of course you also have your typical home alarm devises for the door and window. There braces for the door to prevent it from being opened to <a href="http://www.owndefense.com/electronicwatchdog.html">electronic barking dogs</a> that will deter burglars away with the thought that a large dog is guarding your house.<br />
Self defense for the home isn’t just limited to attaching alarms to it. One way to protect your home is to have a surveillance system. Many people might think that <a href="http://www.owndefense.com/spy-cameras.html">surveillance systems</a> are only for the rich and famous but most consumers would be surprised at how affordable a home surveillance system can be. By having cameras and a surveillance system hooked up around your house, you could be watching many areas of your home from a single room. Many surveillance systems can also be hooked up to a computer for constant monitoring even when you aren’t at home. If you travel a lot and want to be able to monitor your house while you’re away, a home surveillance system might be for you.<br />
Self defense shouldn’t be thought of only for when you are away from your house. Self defense should also be thought of when you are at home. One of the best techniques is to be prepared. The best way to prepare your house from an attack is choosing the right products that will make you feel safe and comfortable while you are in your house and also while you are away from your house. For more information on home protection products, <a href="http://www.owndefense.com">check out our website</a>.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Many people don’t think about self defense and kids. We know we want to protect our kids. We teach them to not talk to strangers. We tell them to run away but we don’t teach them how to protect themselves should something where to happen. Kids are very trusting by nature. And they are very curious. Both traits are what can get them into trouble. Children also do not have the instinct to assess a situation as being dangerous. It is up to the parents to teach kids what is a dangerous situation and what isn’t.<span id="more-11"></span><br />
As parents we want to protect our children from the moment we are born. We install childproof locks as a form of self defense against the possibility of them hurting themselves. We put nanny cameras in our homes when other people are watching our kids. Another way we can protect our children is by using a remote monitoring device. These are transmitters that are worn by the child and the parent or adult holds the receiver. The transmitters constantly send out a signal that the receiver picks up and if the transmitter goes beyond the allocated range, the receiver sounds an alarm.<br />
One of the best ways to teach your child self defense is not by teaching them how to fight. It is simply planning for the different scenarios that they might encounter when you aren’t with them. Just like with any other part of your child’s life, you want to teach them the right and wrong way to handle a situation. The more your child knows and understands what could happen to them and how, the more they will be able to recognize the situation when it does happen and know how to handle themselves. By running thru different scenarios and how your child should handle them, you are giving them the basic self defense tools they will need to be able to assess the situation.<br />
Every child should know about self defense and how to handle themselves in different situations. Teaching your child about self defense and how to protect themselves isn’t a one time lesson. Every age group will require a different set of techniques and a different set of scenarios to learn. Plan ahead and consider the different areas where your child would be vulnerable. Identify the different techniques that would be best for your child when they are vulnerable. And the best way to protect your child will be to always talk to them about where they are going and when they will be back. The more you know about what is going on in your child’s life, the more you will be able to protect them. </p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Self defense is not just about being able to protect yourself when you are physically attacked. There are many ways you can be attacked and learning how to handle each situation will help your kid’s feel more confident. Bullying behavior may seem very minor when you hear in the media about kids bringing guns to school and doing drugs. It has been proven that bullying is an early form of aggression and violent behavior. It is this behavior that leads one in four bullies to perform criminal acts before the age of 30.<span id="more-10"></span><br />
Many victims of bullying behavior are singled out because of they have different mental or emotional traits. Others are picked on because they are physically different or practice a different religion. A victim is typically shy, sensitive and insecure. Children who are bullied can be helped by learning some simple self defense techniques. The first thing you need to do as a parent is to listen to your child. The more you know about what is going on in their life, the better and sooner you will be able to identify if a bullying situation is occurring.<br />
You should take any complaints about bullying seriously. Many children do not tell on bullies because they believe they are tattling. They are often ashamed of it like many victims of physical or verbal abuse. As a parent, you need to watch for the symptoms. You can teach your child about self defense sooner if you are able to recognize when your child starts changing their normal habits. Talk to the school if you suspect your child is being bullied. The sooner you alert your child’s caregivers about your concerns, the sooner they can help in putting a stop to it.<br />
As a parent, the best way to teach your child self defense skills against bullying is to teach them confidence. A parent should show their children how to walk confidently and how to stay alert to what’s going on around them. You need to teach them to stand up for themselves when someone starts picking on them. Children learn by example. Teach your child the social skills he or she needs to make friends. A confident child with friends will feel less like a victim. And most importantly, talk to your child about bullying. It can happen at all different ages. Create an environment where your child will feel safe enough to come home and be able to talk to you about their problems. </p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Self defense is something every woman should learn. Women are two to three times more likely to be physically attacked than men. Many women feel they are at a disadvantage right from the beginning because they can’t compare to the size and strength of a man. Fortunately there are many ways for women to learn how to protect themselves should a potentially dangerous situation come up. Women should no longer feel like they can’t do anything to help themselves. It is just a matter of learning how to use self defense correctly and with what should you protect yourself with.<span id="more-9"></span><br />
Women should no longer feel like the victim and blame themselves for not being able to protect themselves. There are many different types of self defense techniques out there for every woman to learn. Self defense isn’t limited anymore to those who have the talent or physical strength to master martial arts or know how to fight. Anyone can learn the basics and can feel comfortable enough with their knowledge to trust herself. The first step is to pay attention to your surroundings. You should always know where you are going and how you are going to get there. If you find yourself in an area you aren’t sure of, you are more likely to become a victim. When you project self-doubt, you are more likely to be seen as an easy victim.<img src="http://www.owndefense.com/lipsticks.jpg" alt="<a href="http://www.owndefense.com/lipstickpepper.html"><a href="http://www.owndefense.com/lipstickpepper.html">LipStick Pepper Spray</a></a><br />
You should always trust your instincts. Self defense isn’t always about being able to fight back. It’s also about trusting your gut and knowing when to avoid certain situations. Many women learn to trust their instincts on so many matters of their life. They trust their instincts when it comes to their kids and their work. It shouldn’t be that hard to carry those instincts over to knowing when to defend yourself. One part of self defense is not putting yourself in situations that could be potentially dangerous.<img src="http://www.owndefense.com/runt.jpg" alt="<a href="http://<a href="http://www.owndefense.com/lipstickpepper.html"></a><a href="http://www.owndefense.com/runtstungun.html">The Runt Stun Gun</a></a><br />
As with anything else in life, the best way to project confidence and trusting your instincts is to get the facts. The more you know about anything the better off you are going to be. Self defense is the same way. Learn how to fight and protect yourself. The more you feel comfortable in being able to defend yourself the more confident you will be and the less likely you will be seen as a victim. For more information on how to defend yourself, check out our website.</p>
